Sillat Unives'elles

Support for students in exile

Univers’Elles is a project dedicated to supporting exiled women who wish to continue or begin their higher education. Inspired by an internal evaluation conducted by the Sillat organization in 2023, this project responds to the problem of the underrepresentation of exiled women among our beneficiaries.

Based on the recommendations of this evaluation and our own experience, Univers’Elles provides tailored support to exiled women students (current or future) across all academic, administrative, and professional fields, while providing opportunities for participation and mutual assistance.

Objectives:

  • To encourage exiled women’s access to higher education through dedicated counseling sessions and workshops.
  • To support exiled women in their academic pursuits.
  • To guide and assist exiled women in their professional integration.
  • To foster the creation and strengthening of social ties.
  • To influence favorable study conditions for exiled women.
  • To strengthen a gender-sensitive approach within Sillat’s initiatives.

Our actions:

  • Awareness raising: conducting information workshops on access to higher education.
  • Targeted outreach: establishing outreach sessions specifically dedicated to women.
  • Orientation and integration: supporting women in all of Sillat’s activities and projects.
  • Promoting the creation and strengthening of social ties: organizing meetings such as Women’s Cafés and other sociocultural activities.
  • Advocacy: actions aimed at raising awareness of the specific needs of exiled female students among relevant institutions and stakeholders.
  • Strategic partnerships: collaborating with organizations that welcome exiled women to strengthen the project’s impact.
  • Gender approach: systematically integrating gender perspectives into the governance and activities of Sillat’s various hubs.
